Toxin Response
HMS News and Research | March 13, 2019
The liver and kidneys are responsible for metabolizing and removing toxins from the body, and as such, are at the highest risk for toxin-induced damage. A research team at HMS, led by Kenichi Shimada and Tim Michinsin used machine learning to analyze the effect of different toxins on the two organs, identifying common patterns of response. Understanding how the liver and kidneys respond to toxins, could provide insight for developing easily metabolized drugs.
