Ovarian cancer is an aggressive disease that is often diagnosed late, leading to worse patient outcomes. A Cancer Discovery paper from the Santagata lab, led by Tanjina Kader, shows that early pre-cancerous lesions display the hallmarks typically seen in invasive ovarian cancer.
Understanding these early-stage hallmarks of ovarian pre-cancer could pave the way for targeted strategies for intercepting cancer development. This expansive, multimodal dataset is fully available online through cBioPortal.
