Albers Lab at MGH develops new at-home test for brain health
The Harvard Gazette | March 25, 2025
New research from Mark Albers and his team at the McCance Center for Brain Health at Mass General Hospital describes an at-home test that can be used to identify individuals at risk of Alzheimer's disease. The test has subjects smell odor panels arranged on a card and measures whether they can discriminate, identify, and remember smells. The research team found that these olfactory abilities deteriorate with age and cognitive impairment, providing a potential measure for early risk-detection for Alzheimer's disease.
